In my practice, I was an early adopter of mediation and I have resolved virtually every type of employment dispute through the use of mediation. In these mediations, I have generally represented employers, but I have also successfully represented employees in mediation.

After the completion of my four year, non-renewable term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance, I continued the full time practice of law, but also began serving as a Mediator or Arbitrator, generally under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association. Since April 2000, I have served either as the arbitrator or the mediator in a wide variety of disputes primarily employment-related including breach of contract, wrongful termination, sexual harassment, racial discrimination as well as severance and other pay disputes.

As a member of the Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance, I was responsible (along with the other four Board members) for the adjudication of disputes, including representation disputes, brought by Congressional employees or unions seeking to represent such employees.

My formal ADR training includes AAA Arbitrator Update 2001; AAA Employment Arbitrator II Training, San Francisco, 2002; AAA Commercial Arbitrator Training, 1999; American Bar Association, Mediation Training Workshop, 1999; AAA Neutral's Retreat, Orlando, 1998; AAA Arbitration of Employment Disputes Training, 1995.

I have also lectured on arbitration and mediation at various programs of the American Bar Association, the Alliance for Education in Dispute Resolution, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Southern California Mediation Association.

My publications include: "Arbitration of Employment and Labor Disputes," THE ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION PRACTICE GUIDE, West Publishing Company; "Election & Exhaustion of Remedies" and "Equal Pay," chapters, EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION LAW, BNA; "Harassment on Bases Other than Sex " and "Harassment Based on Sexual Orientation," chapters, SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN EMPLOYMENT LAW, BNA; as well as various other articles and papers on employment law topics presented at various programs of the American Bar Association Section of Labor and Employment Law and the National Employment Law Institute.
